  1. Take 1 1/2 cup cooked rice
  2. Prepare 1/2 cup soaked chana daal
  3. Take 1/2 cup thick grated raw mango (kesar go best)
  4. Take 2 tbsp oil
  5. Get 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  6. Make ready 1/4 tsp cumin seeds
  7. Take 1/4 tsp hing (asfoitida)
  8. Prepare 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  9. Prepare 2 green chillies split (very hot chilli)
  10. Get 7-8 pc curry leaves
  11. Prepare to taste Salt

Raw mango rice or Maangai sadam is my fav. I love all tangy rice varieties like puliyodharai,lemon rice etc. I love this rice with little sweet taste. I have posted Mango rice (mango masala rice) earlier which is totally different from this recipe.

Steps to make Raw mango rice:
  1. Grate raw mango, add pinch of salt and keep aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, wait till crackle, add cumin seeds and hing. Wait for a sec. Now add curry leaves and chilli. Saute for a while.
  3. Now add soaked chana daal and cook for 2 mins. (Do not add water) now add grated raw mango and turmeric powder and cook for a min.
  4. Last add cooked rice and mix well. Cook for a min with lid covered.
  5. Serve hot with sweet curd or Sambhar or fresh fruit juice.
