  1. In a pan boil water and once it starts simmering add baking soda, cumin seeds, sesame seeds, salt, chilli paste and ginger paste. Bring it to boil and gradually start adding flour stirring at all times with spatula. Ensure no lumps are for and keep stirring until it forms a dough. Cover and let it cook for about a minute or so. Switch the gas and remove khichu in a plate. You do not need to steam mogo khichu. Mogo khichu can be very sticky.
  2. For rice khichu cool until you can knead. Take a teaspoon of oil and knead the dough. - Khichu is ready to steam. - In a steamer or pressure cooker grease a plate and make small balls of khichu and steam for 7 to 8 minutes. - Enjoy your khichu with oil and chilli powder - - You can use the same method for rice khichu as well.
